Michelle Bass
Michelle has worked at Ravenswood Village for nearly 14 years. She has
had a variety or roles from
a support worker, classroom manager
and now works full time in the Sports
and Leisure department. She has
been involved in the bike rides for
many years now, taking part in numerous local rides
and eleven international rides including riding tandem.
Michelle lives with her partner and 17 year old son.

Nick Abbott
Nick started life at the Village as a
volunteer, having retired from his
family diary business. Within two
weeks he was offered a permanent
post. He has worked for 12 years as
a support worker in a variety of homes
and now works part time for the Sport
and Leisure department. In 1994 he completed his first
bike ride in Israel and has done over 10 international
and many local rides. He has been married to his wife
Sally for 40 years and has two children and three
grandchildren. His many interests include hockey,
golf and music.
Nigel Trumper
Nigel has worked at the village for 21
years, starting in further education
college and setting up the daytime
sports and leisure services. This
department has grown over the years
and he now manages the sport and
leisure department which offers
activities to 200 plus people per week. Nigel took part
in the second bike ride in Israel and has since been on
over 45 international rides for Norwood. He is married
with a son of 17 and a daughter of 12. His many
interests include football, cricket and all sports.
Charles Barnett
Charles was persuaded to do a
Norwood charity bike ride at the age
of 40 having not ridden a bike since he
was a teenager. Although he broke his
arm on that first ride, he has never
looked back. Charles has completed
10 international rides. In 2006 he
joined Lynne and the team on the ride from Lands
End to John O’Groats. Charles is also involved in
organising Norwood’s Capital to Coast Bike Ride. This
will be the first cycling challenge he has undertaken on
a tandem. Charles’ day job is running Lyco Direct, a
leading UK lighting company.
Judith Barnett
Judith has worked for Norwood for 10 years organising
the UK & International bike rides. She
has done many rides herself but is
used to being in charge. Judith
decided it was time she experienced
a ride from ‘the other side’. So she has
set herself the challenge of not only
riding End to End of Ireland but also to
fundraise. She knows all to well from speaking to so
many riders, how hard it to raise money but she felt
that this was her opportunity to support this specific
Norwood project. Perhaps her biggest challenge will
be relinquishing control of a bike ride!
Lynne Gilbert
Lynne has been a Norwood volunteer since 1996
helping out in a number of roles at the
Village. She has completed over 14
rides including riding tandem in the
early days. She loves organizing DIY
challenges and in the past few years
has trekked to base camp Everest,
summited Mount Kenya &
Kilimanjaro and last year ventured into Bhutan. In
2007 she started the Norwood Cycle Club. She is a
management consultant and is married with three
grown up children. She looks forward to organising
the third end to end challenge …France 2012 !! |
